Bio

Paulo da Rosa is a San Diego native and a music lover at heart. He picked up the guitar around the age of ten – not taking lessons or playing power chords of the time, but teaching himself, accompanied by the sounds of legendary guitar players such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Carlos Santana, and Jimi Hendrix.

His passion for music and remarkable natural ability to learn music theory made way for his professional career in guitar at the tender age of 13, where he played mostly Portuguese music at local festivals or jamming rock, funk and metal tunes with close friends. This exposure to a wide variety of styles (and at such a young age) is what gives Paulo da Rosa his unique sound. At any one of Paulo’s shows, you can hear rock riffs influenced heavily by blues and funk/dance sounds.

Throughout Paulo’s music career, he has had the opportunity to play at nearly all of San Diego’s most popular venues including Cricket Wireless Amphitheater, most clubs in the Gaslamp district, many popular festivals including Street Scene, Monster Bash, Oysterfest and all of San Diego’s casino’s. Some other locations and venues include Los Angeles (The Roxy, The Whiskey, the Knitting Factory), Las Vegas (Bond at Cosmopolitan), San Francisco (Red Devil Lounge, Erotic Ball), Fall River (FR Festival), Manhattan New York (The Canal Room), and even abroad in Azores, Portugal (Cais Agosto, Festa das Velas) and in Paris, France (Le Meridien).

Today, Paulo’s extensive repertoire, professional work ethic, and wide range of styles allow him to play with a large number of very different projects from all around including Super Magnetic (2010 UMC Winners), Sleeping Giant/DJ Who, Slightly Stoopid, Rock Out Karaoke, in addition to the many solo artists Paulo is asked to work with.

Paulo says he gets his inspiration from his motivation to become better and better at what he loves to do, and enjoys giving his audience an energetic live experience.
